Elmira (WENY) - This weekend check out some of the most beautiful natural beauty the Southern Tier has to offer, mixed with a little bit of mystery. The Friends of the Chemung River Watershed and the Chemung Valley Audubon Society are hosting a free bird-watching hike along the Chemung River from this Saturday.
Take a short hike along the riverbank in Elmira to look for waterfowl and stop at a mysterious tombstone hidden along the river. It's part of the Thrills & Chills Halloween and fall-themed events. Meet at the Grove Street Boat Launch at 3:45 p.m. Saturday in Elmira.
Dress for the weather, wear hiking boots or sneakers, and bring binoculars, cameras and flashlights if you wish. For more information, contact Jim Pfiffer at 607-846-2242.
