Town of Wheeler (WENY)--- A young child is dead after drowning in a pond in Steuben County over the weekend.

State Police in Bath say a 4-year-old Amish boy, who didn't know how to swim, drowned in a pond at a family farm in the Town of Wheeler.

It happened around 10:30 Saturday morning.

Police say the boy died before crews reached the Stryket Road Farm.

Right now the drowning is being treated as an unattended death.
