CCC Volunteer Day
CHEMUNG CO. (WENY) -- More than a hundred students and staff members from Corning Community College paid it forward today.
They volunteered Friday morning and afternoon with more than a dozen local organizations and groups. Those groups included the Chemung County SPCA, Meals on Wheels and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
The goal of day was to help area non-profits reach their goals and fulfill their missions.
"I was going to do it last year but I ended up not getting around to it," said Samantha Mott, a CCC student who is studying early childhood education. "We decided this year we would be able to do it and we've had a lot of fun doing it."
In addition to today's volunteering time, students walked this afternoon from the CCC campus to Spencer Crest Nature Center to raise money for Catholic Charities.
