Cornell University Nets Installed Monday
Written By: Laura Caso

ITHACA (WENY)---Monday, Cornell University is set to install safety nets on the gorge bridges.
As you may recall, three Cornell students committed suicide by jumping into the gorges within a month of each other in spring 2010.
In response, Temporary chain-link fences were erected and then replaced with less obtrusive black fencing.
In December, the Ithaca Common Council gave the university permission to put netting below three-city owned bridges. Some nets will extend about 15 feet out from the bridges.
Cornell will be responsible for maintenance and inspection costs on all the nets.
