CPP Schools Suit Response
The attorney for the Corning-Painted Post Schools claims the district acted appropriately in the case of the health teacher accused of an improper relationship with a student.
As we reported last night, The student and his mother have filed a lawsuit against the district. The teacher, Teri Decker, pleaded guilty to child endangerment when accused of making sexual advances toward the teenager and sending explicit texts. The lawsuit questions the district's response and policies.
Defense attorney Aimee Koch says the district responded to the situation appropriately. "The motivations behind the lawsuit are monetary," says Koch. "You have a student here who is a teenager approaching his adulthood. I haven't seen any indication that this child, this young man is really suffering from any emotional stress from the interactions I've had."
Koch says the lawsuit is still in the early stages and that once they reach the discovery process, she hopes the plantiffs will have a better understanding of how effective the school district was in handling the circumstances.
