Hung Jury in David Perry Insurance Fraud Case
BINGHAMTON, NY (WENY) -- After a day of deliberations, it's a hung jury in the case of the Elmira man accused of defrauding the state of more than $100,000.
David Perry was on trial in Broome County on charges of Grand Larceny and Insurance Fraud, among other charges. The decision came back late Friday afteroon as a hung jury.
Perry is accused of filing a false claim about an injury he suffered while working at the Elmira Correctional Facility, and receiving insurance and disability payments from the state of New York since 2005. No new trial date has been set.
Perry also remains the main suspect in the disappearance of Florida police cadet Kelly Rothwell, who went missing in March 2011.
