Elmira Woman Sentenced for False Tax Returns

ROCHESTER, NY (WENY) -- An Elmira woman will spend nearly three years in federal prison for cheating on her taxes, and pay back almost $68,000.
Twenty-eight year old Dawn White was convicted of conspiracy and filing false federal income tax returns, during 2005 and 2006. Federal prosecutors say White and her sister, Jennifer Ford, filed several falsified state and federal returns to the state and IRS.
In 2005, White claimed on her return that she earned $94,000 at General Revenue Corporation, and had $39,000 withheld. She received an refund of approximately $21,000. In reality, she earned $4,000, and only had $325 withheld.
In all, White and Ford filed 13 false tax returns. Ford is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
