DeSisti to Remain in Jail
TOWANDA, PA (WENY) -- An aging man accused of murder in Bradford County will stay behind bars.
Judge David Grine today denied a motion to release 76-year-old John Desisti from jail. DeSisti's attorneys want their client released, claiming he suffers from Dementia and Parkinson's disease, and has about a year to live.
Back in July, he was delcared incompetent to stand trial. The judge ordered him held until he's declared competent.
Desisti is accused of killing his cousin Carol Keefe and her husband David in an ambush shooting at their Athens home in 2006. Prosecutors say DeSisti killed the couple over a long-running land dispute with Carol.
