Former Doctor Pleads Guilty to Fraud
BUFFALO, NY (WENY) -- A former doctor who worked in Schuyler County pleaded guilty in federal court to health care fraud.
Sixty-three year old Daniel Gillick of Youngstown will surrender his medical license, and spend six months on home detention and two years of probation. Prosecutors say in 2011, Gillick worked as an emergency room doctor at Schuyler Hospital in Watkins Glen. During that time, he devised a scheme for his then-girlfriend to pretend to suffer from a medical condition.
Gillick then fraudulently diagnosed her, and wrote her a prescription for the controlled substance Dilaudid.
Gillick admitted to obtaining controlled substances by fraud., and health care fraud.
