DWI Checkpoints
March 15, 2013
Steuben County (WENY) -- The Steuben County Sheriffs Office and New York State Police are combining forces to catch impaired drivers on the road. They're moving the location throughout the evening into the early hours of the morning. They've even detained a few people already. Officials plan to have checkpoints, not only St. Patrick's Day weekend, but each month to help cut down on the amount of alcohol or drug related accidents. Sheriff Dave Cole said the last thing they want to see is someone hurt or killed in an accident caused by DWI.
"The strong DWI enforcement has cut the fatalities and serious accidents but we want to keep working on it and get the number to zero if possible," said Sheriff Cole.
Police are asking drivers to be safe on the roads this weekend. So enjoy the St. Pattie's Day festivities but in a smart and safe way.
