ELMIRA (WENY)-- A traffic stop in Elmira ended up in the arrest of five alleged illegal immigrants from El Salvador, Sunday morning.

According to our media partner, the Star Gazette, Police pulled over a Ford Expedition for speeding on I-86 at the Elmira exit.

Police say two of the people in the car were wanted on warrants from the U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement and the other three were smuggled into the country.

The other three people were legal residents and they were released with no charges. The passengers told troopers they were on a road-trip home to Long Island after visiting Letchworth State Park.

The five suspected illegal immigrants were are now waiting court appearances.
