Lead Test Results in for Enfield Elementary School
ITHACA, NY (WENY) - The most recent lead testing for the Ithaca City School District found two samples which had higher than normal lead levels.
Samples from two water sources at Enfield Elementary School exceeded the acceptable level of lead of 15 parts per billion. The samples were collected on December 21st, 2016 in accordance with the Lead and Copper Rule need for 6 month testing. ICSD says they’re waiting on the results from additional testing conducted under the Governor’s Lead Testing in School Drinking Water Regulation.
In a letter to the community, the school district says people are not drinking the water from these sources. They say they’re also providing clean water until a plan of action is implemented. ICSD says they’re working with the Tompkins County Health Department to fix the issue.
The letter can be found here.
