FDA Backs Off On Spent Grain Regulations
(WENY) -- The Food and Drug Administration has backed off on its proposal to regulate spent grain.
Last week, Senator Chuck Schumer was in Horseheads speaking with brewers who donate or sell spent grain to farmers who use it to feed their animals.
Both farmers and brewers said this regulation would have hurt their businesses.
Today, Senator Schumer spoke with the F-D-A commissioner who agreed to revise the rule to avoid unintended consequences.
This proposal would have forced brewers to meet new requirements that would have raised beer prices.
