Finger Lakes Wine Festival Recap

WATKINS GLEN (WENY) -- It was a weekend of celebration at Watkins Glen International.
Thousands of People from all over New York and neighboring regions visited the famous race track - not for speed but for the annual Finger Lakes Wine Festival.
The festivities kicked off with a toga party on Friday night and lasted throughout the weekend, as guests got a taste of New York's best wines.
"We got about 90 New York State wineries, pouring hundreds of different wines from Long Island, western New York right back here our backyard in the Finger Lakes region," said Betsy Mayer, Public Relation at Watkins Glen International.
Among the wineries at the festival, Seneca Lake's Lakewood Vineyards and Fulkerson Winery were both honored for their 25 year milestone.
"I was so surprised," said Beverly Stamp of Lakewood Vineyards. "I thought it was a very nice gesture."
"We've come a long way," said Sayre Fulkerson of Fulkerson Winery. "We started with very little and we slowly added on and it's been a nice experience."
The Finger Lakes Wine Festival is the second largest event at the glen, (behind NASCAR?)
Over 63 buses ushered in out of state guests, including One group from Pennsylvania  with 700 people.
"It's far more than our traditional 5 hour drive with in New York State. We get people from the Eastern part of PA to taste the New York Finger Lakes wines and everything else the region has to offer," said Mayer.
