ITHACA (WENY)---More than half of New York residents say gas drilling is too risky.
An annual Cornell University poll surveyed New Yorkers over a three year period and found 52 % of them believe the risk of contaminating drinking water outweighs any revenues that would come from natural gas drilling.
And, 61 % said they want their community to control where drilling happens.
Around 21 % are confused and want more educational information on drilling.
Both men and women in New York State are evenly split in their opposition to gas drilling at 52 percent.
