"Fuel our Neighbors" Fundraiser

For the second year in a row Athens area community members came together to put on a fuel fundraiser for people who can't afford heating oil this winter.

Athens (WENY) - For the second year in a row Athens area community members came together to put on a fuel fundraiser for people who can't afford heating oil this winter. Sponsored by the Athens Arts Fest Council and the Athens area school district the event called "Fuel our Neighbors" is raising money for people who need home heating fuel. People can got hot soup salad and dessert for a donation, or people could buy ceramic bowls made by the high school art class. The director of the Athens Art Fest David Webster says the event is a great way for the whole community to get involved.
      “As our first year and this year we got a great support staff with the school district, the kids, each year it gets better last years and the community. That's what really makes it a nice event,” says Webster.
     Fuel your neighbors raised $1,800 today, all the proceeds will go to the Bridge to help keep homes heated for families in need.
