Man Surrenders After Standoff

HORSEHEADS (WENY) --  A phone call about a man with a gun in Horseheads sparked a two-hour standoff last night.
Chemung County Sheriff Christopher Moss says deputies responded to 133 Vinel Circle, where they found 27-year-old Matthew Chorney, holding what appeared to be a gun. A Sergeant ordered Chorney several times to drop the weapon, and say he dropped it in the garage and went into the home, launching a standoff that forced police to evacuate neighbors. He surrendered peacefully after about two hours.

Authorities also recovered several other guns and ammunition from the home. No charges have been filed at this time.
