Man Injured and Family Displaced After Fire

HORSEHEADS (WENY)---One man suffered burns and a family of five is displaced after a Horseheads Fire.

Elmira Heights Firefighters were called to 165 Fairview Ave. Saturday night.

A man was found in the road with burns to his right arm and hand.

He was treated and released from the hospital.

Officials say the fire started in the kitchen in a pan of oil being used to deep fry food.

The kitchen and attic sustained heavy fire damage, and the rest of the home suffered smoke, heat, and water damage.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Firefighters saved two of the family's pet cats from the fire.
