Cuomo Passes Invasive Species Law
NYS Takes Aim Against Hydrilla & Emerald Ash Borer
ALBANY, NY (WENY---The fight against invasive species like hydrilla is getting tougher. Governor Cuomo has signed new legislation aimed at eradicating hydrilla and the emerald ash borer.
It gives the Department of Environmental Conservation and the Department of Agriculture and Markets the authority to regulate the sale, purchase, possession, introduction, importation and transport of invasive species.
The law also establishes penalties for those who violate such regulations. The law is aimed at controlling invasive species like the Emerald Ash borer and hydrilla.
