Ithaca Named Top Walk-To-Work City

ITHACA, NY (WENY)--Ithaca is a bike-friendly city, but new census data shows that more people walk to work there than anywhere else in the country.

The data reveals that people in mid-size towns, particularly in the Midwest and northeastern U-S are more apt to walk to work. Many of the popular areas for walking have colleges or universities.

Ithaca comes in at the top with an estimated 15.4% of people commuting by foot.

State College, Pa, Flagstaff, Az, Corvallis, Or. and Bloomington, Ind. round out the top five.
