CORNING (WENY) -- A Corning man is in jail on Grand Larceny charges, accused of stealing restaurant equipment from a Steuben County hotel.
According to the Sheriff's Office, 47-year-old Jeffrey Bates operated a restaurant inside the hotel in Gang Mills, and suddenly closed it back in April. Investigators say Bates stole about $26,000 worth of equipment and inventory belonging to the hotel. He's also accused of writing a bad rent check for $2,700 dollars.
