Keuka Maid Sold at Auction

URBANA, NY (WENY) -- The Keuka Maid sold at auction today in the town of Urbana to the highest bidder, who paid $26,000.
The former tourist attraction was put on the auction block after years of legal battles and disputes between Urbana officials, law enforcement and the boat's owner, local businessman Robert Pfuntner. Only two bids were placed on the boat; one for $25,000 and the other for $26,000.
An Urbana jury declared the boat a squatter, and started the eviction process earlier this year. The boat was then included in foreclosure proceedings against Pfuntner.
Urbana Town Supervisor John Webster told WENY-TV News that today's winning bid came from Fields Construction of Canandaigua. Webster says that the company could decide to pull the boat ashore and tear it apart for scrap metal, or move it elsewhere. The new owner has a deadline for removing the boat from the dock and the approaches. Webster says he believes the new owner will "act in good faith" to remove it quickly.
