Chemung Co. Sheriff to Offer Retail Training to Fight Theft
ELMIRA (WENY) -- The Chemung County Sheriff's Office is working to help store employees crack down on thieves this holiday shopping season.
The Sheriff's Office is offering free training to retail workers in the county in two seminars on November 9th and 14th. People who take the course will learn how to detect shoplifting, forged checks, credit cards and counterfeit cash, and how to deal with people trying to use them.
The course is geared toward people handling money this shopping season, and is especially recommended for retail managers.
Anyone interested in signing up should pre-register by October 31st. The courses will be held from 9-11AM on November 9th, and from 2-4PM on November 14th at the Big Flats Community Center at 476 Maple Street. For more information, contact Lorraine Lambert at 607-737-2987 x104.
