Pedestrian Hit by 18 Wheeler

State police rushed to exit 59 on route 17 tonight after a pedestrian was hit while walking on the side of the highway.

Chemung County (WENY) - State police rushed to exit 59 on route 17 Friday night after a pedestrian was hit while walking on the side of the highway. State troopers and Greater Valley EMS responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car at around 7:30 P.M. It turned out that a man walking on the side of the highway was struck by an 18 wheeler going westbound. Police say the person hit was from the area and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Robert Packer Hospital he is expected to survive. No other details are available at this time.
