CORNING (WENY)--- Tricia Shugars, a physical education teacher at Severn Elementary, has been motivating kids on the court for years. Today, she's motivating them to join the fight against childhood cancer at this year's Saint Baldrick's event.

"There's not a lot of money that's given to childhood research," said Tricia. "And the kids are our future."

Tricia and her students are doing it for Loretta Getola and Zack Spaulding, two children living with brain cancer. They're turning heads and motivating people to shave their heads.

Second grader, Cohle Whitehouse says, "There's these kids that have cancer and their hair falls out sometimes and I am going to shave my head so they don't feel left out."

Fourth grader, Caitlin Oropallo has already raised just about $2,000 dollars and she says, "All of the money I've raised can help doctor's find a cure."

Tricia has raised over $2,000 thus far. "I know that if it was one of my children, I would want one of my colleagues to help me out and find a cure for my son or daughter."

Loretta's mother, Jill, is a Severn Elementary teacher. Some of her students are excited and some, a bit nervous...

Alex Snyder says he's been bald before and he says, "it's no big deal, it's just kind of fun."

Mitchell Koralewsy has a full head of hair and he's a little more nervous. "I've always had hair, I've never been bald and I've never had the feeling."

Cohle Whitehouse is excited about and says, "I think I'll be really good at it."

And I think we can all agree that Caitlin wil be 'good' at it too..."It's just hair, and it will grow back," said Caitlin.
