Schuyler County Sheriff Cameras
Schuyler County (WENY) -- Deputies at the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office have started wearing small body cameras to help them document certain incidents.
The four gigabyte recording device clips on to deputies' uniforms and doesn't look like a typical camera. The sheriff's office will use the footage for investigations and looking into citizen complaints. It gives their "point of view" on what they saw and heard at the time of the recording.
"Obviously, it can help with criminal investigations, interviews, how people act at the scene," said Undersheriff Breck Spaulding. "Also, a big thing with deputies is civil litigation for lawsuits."
These devices did not come out of taxpayers' pockets -- funding came from DWI fines and seized drug money.
