The alleged incident happened last Friday

Knife on Bus

ELMIRA N.Y--(WENY-TV)-- Earlier this week a few parents who have children attending Pine City Elementary School contacted WENY claiming a student brought a knife onto a school bus last Friday.

WENY'S Ben Wilcox spoke directly with one of those parents tonight, and while she does not want her face shown she claims her son saw another child with a what was described as a steak knife, stabbing the bus seat and threatening other students.

According to the parent the driver brought the child into the school where the knife was found, but the child was on the bus that afternoon and again on Monday. She also told WENY that the principal of the school did not seem empathetic to the situation.

Interim Elmira Superintendent Hillary Austin said the school takes student safety seriously but cannot disclose information about student discipline.

The parent WENY spoke with did say that since she had contacted the bus garage and the Superintendent, the alleged knife holding student had not been on the bus.
