Town of Corning Dems Called to Action
September 16, 2013
TOWN OF CORNING -- (WENY) Gerald Morse, the Village of South Corning Mayor, organized the caucus along with other board members and Joseph Welch, Democratic Commissioner of Elections for Steuben County.
Their goal was to get more democratic representation on the Town of Corning Board. They're looking for candidates to run for the two open town council positions currently held by Gary Mapes and Douglas Wicks. Both men are up for re-election in November. Welch says there hasn't been any Democrats on the board since 2010. He says the meeting tonight is a call to action.
"If people find themselves dissatisfied or say to themselves we need a different perspective this I think, is the instrumentality to do that," said Welch.
If you're interested you can contact the Board of Elections. And you have until 5:00 PM tomorrow.
