Truck Driver Airlifted After Accident on I-86

BATH (WENY) - A tractor trailer driver is recovering after an accident on I-86 near Bath.

Police say it happened Sunday around 4:20 PM.

The driver veered off the eastbound lane between exits 38 and 39, and hit a tree.

Police say when emergency crews arrived, they found the driver still in the cab of the truck, but he was able to get out with some help.

Because of how bad the accident was, crews airlifted the driver to a local hospital.

The highway was shut down for about an hour, and traffic was re-routed.

The truck was carrying insulation.

The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.
