Whooping Cough Cases On The Rise
ALBANY, NY (WENY)---Cases of whooping cough across the Empire State are up and now state health officials want to make sure you're vaccinated.
So far this year, there have been 970 cases of whooping cough-also known as pertussis- reported in New York State.
That's compared to 931 cases for all of last year.Cases are up nationally by more than 40-percent. Whooping cough is a bacterial infection that spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
