NY Senate Approves ’College Affordability Plan’

ALBANY (WENY)---New York Lawmakers are trying to make college more affordable.

A legislation passed 56 to zero Monday to help middle-class families and students afford high tuition costs.

It's called the 'College Affordability Plan; and it would help parents save by increasing tuition tax credit by $400 dollars and cutting tuition taxes by $10,000 dollars.

The plan also grants $12,000 dollars in tax credit for students who graduate on time from New York schools, perform community service and work in the state for four years.

Senator Tom O'mara says the plan proposes state-level actions to ease burdens of college costs for families and students.
