Health Officials Warn of Risks of Halloween Contacts
Written By: Renata Stiehl

HARRISBURG, PA (WENY) -- If you've been thinking about picking up a pair of spooky contact lenses for Halloween, you might want to reconsider.
Pennsylvania health officials warn it's against the law to sell decorative or cosmetic contact lenses without a prescription, and that unfitted lenses pose a serious health risk. Ill-fitting contact lenses can cause impaired vision, corneal damage, infection and even blindness.
Federal and state law requires prescriptions for contact lenses, which are considered medical devices.
