JULY 25, 2013
New York (WENY) - Governor Cuomo is making sure people who kill police animals are punished appropriately. Right now killing a police dog or horse is only a misdemeanor. Legislation signed by the governor makes it a felony.

The governor says its important to recognize these animals go in places and do things humans can't. Cuomo also signed another bill removing a 10 day confinement for dogs who bite someone during an arrest or other duty. He says departments need members of the force ready at all times.
