With the Cheez-It 355 right around the corner, a dozen racing teams showed up at Watkins Glen International for a two day practice session on the new surface. WENY Sports was there live as a report on just how important these 48 hours were to the teams. >>

Jackals Announce New Head Coach

The Elmira Jackals announced they have selected David Leger as their new head coach. Prior to Elmira, Leger was an assistant coach with the Evansville Icemen. leger, originally from Orleans, Ontario, was an assistant coach with the Hawkwsbury Hawks of the CJHL in 1998, before becoming the head coach in 1999. Since then, he has coached 11 seasons with the University of Ottawa, the Tohoku Free Blades and the Nippon Paper Cranes in Japan, he also coached Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in Hungary, before retuyning to Canada to coach the Cumberland Grads. Leger stated in the Jackals official press release: "It is my sincere privilege to be the next Head Coach of the Elmira Jackals and I look forward to providing our fans with a team that works hard every night," said Leger. "I also look forward to working with the players to help them develop to their full potential during this important time in their professional careers." Elmira opens their season Saturday, October 15th at Reading. >>
