Hurting New York Apple Crops
ALBANY (WENY)--- 2011 was not a good year for apple crops in the Empire state.
New York's total production for the year was 1,220 million pounds. That's 4-percent below the 2010 crop of 1,270 million pounds.
Fresh market production was down 6-percent. The price per pound for fresh apples averaged 33-point-3 cents per pound.
Nationally, production was up 1-percent from 2010.
