Albany (WENY) - Governor Cuomo is taking steps to help slow down corruption in Albany, enacting tougher penalties for public officials involved in bribery. New charges for bribery of a public servant, corruption and failure to report corruption, and a lifetime ban from government for lawmakers charged with corruption. Cuomo also said he would seek to make it a misdemeanor for any elected official or government employee to witness bribery and fail to report it. This piece of legislation comes in response to the arrests last week of two state lawmakers on bribery charges.
