Towanda (WENY) - Breaking news overnight out of Towanda. Residents living on two Bradford county roads left their homes voluntarily after a natural gas line ruptured.

County emergency officials say fire crews were on scene just after 11 P.M. Monday night and was done by 2:15 A.M. Tuesday morning.

The gas pipe owned by Valley Gas was off Sugar Creek Road in North Towanda Township and Plank Road in Towanda Township near the Farr Well Site. Officials say the cause is not confirmed but they believe ground movement could have played a role in the break. Crews shut off the affected area by closing the valves and are repairing the pipe today. All residents are back in their homes this morning.
