MADD Red Ribbon Campaign
December 27, 2013
ALBANY, NY (WENY) -- The holiday drinking season is still here with New Years Eve right around the corner Mothers Against Drunk Driving are making one final push before the holiday hits to remind people not to get behind the wheel under the influence.
65,000 red ribbons will be handed out to New York State Thruway drivers today. It's all for the annual red ribbon campaign against drunk driving. The campaign was started by the New York State Thruway Authority and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The foot-long red ribbons are meant to encourage people to drive sober, safely and buckled up.
The Thruway Authority will also be posting MADD's reminder to "Drive Safely, Stay Sober" on thruway message boards over the weekend.
