New Regulations To Protect NY From Flu
NEW YORK (WENY)--- Health care workers who do not get flu shots may be required to wear masks under a regulation proposed today by the state Health Department.
In light of the unusually high number of seasonal influenza cases, the state is taking new steps to reduce the risk of people contracting the flu.
The New York State Department of Health is proposing a new regulation that will require personnel in hospitals, nursing homes, and diagnostic and treatment centers who have not received a flu vaccination to wear a surgical mask when they're around patients.
This season, there have been more than 33,000 cases of the flu in all 57 counties across the state.
