New York State Casino Bid
NEW YORK (WENY)- Twenty-two applicants are anticipating their right to open casinos in upstate New York. Voters across the state endorsed an amendment that would permit casinos to operate in New York state with hopes that it will attract tourism. The gaming commission released the names of contenders Thursday, the day after the 1 million dollar application fee was due. As we've been reporting, Tioga Downs hopes to win the gaming license for the Southern Tier. Other competing groups in the state include gambling giants like Caesars, Genting Group and Foxwoods.
