New York Considers Tanning Ban

ALBANY (AP) -- New York could outright ban indoor tanning for anyone under 18, as skin cancer cases in teens continues to rise.
Bills to ban teenage tanning in both houses of the state legislature come at prom time, a peak time for teens to use tanning booths. National headlines and a skit on Saturday Night Live also highlight a deeply tanned New Jersey mother, accused of taking her five year old daughter to a tanning salon.

The American Cancer Society reports a 72% percent increase in melanoma in 10 years; statistics show an increasing number of cases involve teenagers.
