NY Insurance Fraud and Car Theft Funding
December 19, 2013
SOUTHERN TIER (WENY) -- Have you ever been a victim of car insurance fraud? Well Governor Cuomo might have a solution that could help, or at least save you next time.
Almost $4 million dollars in state funding is going to New York Law Enforcement agencies to help fight motor vehicle theft and insurance fraud. That will go to 29 police departments, district attorney's offices and other agencies.
The agencies will then use the grants to target suspected motor vehicle insurance fraud and continue efforts to combat motor vehicle theft, which has been steadily declining in New York.
Cuomo says that this kind of fraud costs New York consumers and insurers millions of dollars every year.
