PA Introduces New Child Abuse Laws

HARRISBURG---(WENY) New laws are in the works to protect children's safety in Pennsylvania. Tuesday, The Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted unanimously to set up child advocacy centers, to make judges more aware of children who have been under a protection of abuse order. They also voted to make it a separate crime to intimidate or retaliate against a witness, victim, or someone reporting child abuse.Currently, the law only applies to witnesses and victims in a criminal investigation.The proposals come in response to suggestions by the Pennsylvania Task Force on Child Protection, In light of the Sandusky sex abuse scandal.
