PA Treasurer To Run For Governor
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - State Treasurer Rob McCord is running for governor. In an e-mail to supporters Tuesday, McCord confirmed the open secret that he will compete for the Democratic nomination to contest Republican Gov. Tom Corbett's bid for a second term. McCord is the eighth candidate to step forward - and he may not be the last.
McCord, a former venture capitalist who was re-elected as treasurer last year, says he's running because he wants to invest in Pennsylvania families and provide opportunities for young people.
Other candidates include U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, former state revenue secretary Tom Wolf and former state environmental protection secretaries Katie McGinty and John Hanger.
