NY School Districts Fiscally Stressed
ALBANY (WENY) -- New York's Comptroller says 13-percent of school districts statewide are fiscally stressed.
Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's office evaluated 674 school districts across the state. He says reductions in state aid, a cap on local revenue and declining savings are obstacles for school districts. Twelve districts are classified in "significant fiscal stress", 23 in "moderate fiscal stress" and 52 as "susceptible".
Several local districts are included in the "susceptible" category - including Jasper-Troupsburg, Elmira, Owego-Apalachin, and Spencer-Van Etten.
