Taglianetti Murder Trial is Underway

MAYVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - The lawyer for a Virginia man on trial in the fatal shooting of a New York school administrator says his client is the victim of a manipulative and cheating wife and not guilty of murder.

During opening statements in Anthony Taglianetti's second-degree murder trial Tuesday, attorney Nathaniel Barone took aim at the defendant's wife, Mary, calling her a liar who was sexually involved with Clymer Superintendent Keith Reed Jr., whom she'd met online.

Anthony Taglianetti is accused of driving 350 miles from Woodbridge, Va., to Reed's rural Clymer home in September 2012 and shooting him three times.

Chautauqua (shuh-TAW'-kwuh) County District Attorney David Foley told jurors that Taglianetti was driven to kill by an email he'd found. Foley says Reed and Mary Taglianetti were briefly involved during a Taglianetti separation.
