Temporary Blackout for NY Sporting Licenses

December 16, 2013

SOUTHERN TIER (WENY) -- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is having a blackout period lasting for as long as two weeks.
New York State DEC Commissioner Joe Martens, announced Monday that beginning Thursday, December 26, the public will not be able to purchase hunting, fishing or trapping licenses, or secure a recreational marine fishing registration or report their harvested game.
It's a result of the DEC switching from its current computer licensing system to a new system. During that time, those interested won't be able to buy a license in hunting, trapping or fishing. The DEC's contract with the current provider expires at the end of the year.
