New York: Timely Tax Refunds
(WENY)-- New York lawmakers want to see you get your tax refund on time.
Legislation for a new bill was passed Wendesday, in an effort to ensure timely payment of state income tax refunds.
The new bill backed by Senator Carl Marcellino, would require refunds to be issued within 30 days of taxes being filed.
Usually, the state department of Taxation and Finance will hold tax refunds for up to two months from the file date.
The bill also requires the state to issue a written notice to the tax payer if there are any discrepancies.
