Fallen State Trooper Laid to Rest

OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) - A New York trooper who fell to his death during a training exercise last week is being laid to rest.

Mourners from the state police and numerous other law enforcement agencies have filled the Reilly Center at St. Bonaventure University for the funeral of Trooper Ross Riley.

The 44-year-old died last Wednesday after falling into the gorge at Letchworth State Park during high-angle rescue training.

A member of the Special Operations Response Team, Riley was a 17-year veteran of the state police. His wife, Heidi, is a state police station commander in Olean. The couple has three children.
