Cara Demers joined the WENY News team in September 2016 as a news reporter.  She now also anchors and produces WENY News at Noon. Originally from southern New Hampshire, she is beyond excited to now call the Twin Tiers home!

Cara graduated from the University of New Haven, in Connecticut, where she earned a degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in English Writing.  During her time at UNH, she spent much of her time on-air at WNHU, Connecticut's #1 college radio station, as well as writing for many print and online publications--both on and off campus.  She was a member of both the National Communication and English honor society.

Prior to joining WENY, Cara spent time interning in the newsroom at the ABC affiliate WTNH out of New Haven, CT.  It was there that her passion for entertainment and media really transpired into TV news and solidified her dreams of becoming a reporter.

She is a member of both the National Communication and English Honors Societies.

In her spare time, Cara is an avid reader, writer and pop culture enthusiast.  When she’s not working, she enjoys traveling, horseback riding and spending time with her cat, Owen. Most of all, Cara loves spending time with her friends and family.  She is looking forward to further exploring the Twin Tiers and getting to know and share the community's stories!
